Colored Weapon?
I know armor that has been picked up and is colored can be identified and then expert salvaged for runes, but what about weapons? I found an Axe that is purple in color, should I salvage it as well?

What are the stats? Does it say "unidentified"?
If you ID it, you could unlock a weapon upgrade. If you expert salvage it, you could get that upgrade out of it to put into another weapon. If it has really good stats, you may want to keep it or sell it. |

i think he is talking about the purple weapons that dont have a "unidentified" indicator on them.. These weapons dont have mods on them they just have a lower requirment to use them than the normal weapons with the same damage stats. (also sometimes the only mod is the damage type changed form slashing to cold)

Oh, so that's what they mean. Only thing is that I remember having 2 fiery dragon swords I was trying to sell, one blue one purple. Both had no other mods, but I'm pretty sure the purple one had 11 swordsmanship req. while the blue only had 10. I'm probably just remembering incorrectly though.

Generally, for a weapon, you want to sell it as is only if it has nearly max damage, and the "built-in" modifiers are high. (the modifiers that can't be changed by adding new handles, bowstrings, etc.) The buyer of it will probably add his own modifiers.
The different modifiers for weapons can be found here: http://www.gwonline.net/page.php?p=125 Someplace, I saw a chart showing the max damage for each weapon. 6-28 is max damage for axes. 15-28 is for bows. etc... If one of the salvageable mods on the weapon is worth much (look at URL above), then I'll try to salvage it out, using my expert salvage kit. I think there's a 1 in 3 chance you'll get it, but I'm not sure about that. If none of the modifiers are worth salvaging, and it's not a max damage weapon, then I will either salvage it for materials, or sell it to a merchant. |
